Two-Port UWB-MIMO Antenna Design for WiMAX and X-Band Applications

As a direct consequence of Moore's Law, virtually every piece of apparatus and processing unit has become smaller in size, with the exception of antennas. This is true even though a sizable segment of the wireless communication industry adheres to the motto “Small is Beautiful.” In this paper, a novel wide-band MIMO antenna with intensify shielding and twin-band exclusion is conferred for wireless systems running across the whole ultra-wideband (UWB), WiMax, and X-band (3–12 GHz). The FR-4 dielectric material was utilised as the substrate for the prototype of the proposed two-element UWB-MIMO antenna, and its dimensions were 50 mm x 40 mm by 1.6 mm. A microstrip line, a monopole resonator with a hexagonal form, and another one with a rectangular shaped ground surface comprise the unit element. A hexagonal complementary split-ring resonator, also known as an HCSRR, was constructed inside of the monopole antenna patch in order to prevent interference caused by frequencies associated with WiMAX and X-Band. The newly created antenna is a combination of two patch antennas that are similar to one another and are capable of working in broad frequency ranges. The radiation pattern, efficiency, ECC and DG of the implied two-port ultra wide band MIMO antenna have all been analysed in terms of its performance, and the results have been found to be favourable.
