The Influence of Online Gaming on Students’ Attitudes, Behaviors, and Academic Performance

Online gaming is a popular form of leisure activity among individuals, with several reasons for its popularity, such as providing a means for stress relief, competition, and relaxation. A well-structured survey consisting of 15 questions on socio- demographic information, knowledge, attitude, and perception was conducted among 100 high school and undergraduate college students through an online link. The obtained data was analyzed using correlation and chi-square tests on SPSS software version 23, with a level of significance set at p¡0.05. The survey results indicated that 46% of the respondents preferred shooting games, 34% preferred racing games, and 20% preferred sports games, with a statistically significant p-value of 0.011. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that online gaming has a significant impact on college students’ attitudes, behavior, and academic performance.
