Effect Of Various Tobacco Product On The PH And The Cytomorphology Of Blood:A Comparative Study

This study aimed to investigate the effects of different tobacco products on blood pH and cytomorphology. Blood samples were collected and exposed to three types of tobacco products. The pH of the blood was measured at various intervals, and statistical analyses were performed to determine the significance of the results. The paired t-test revealed a significant effect of bidi smoking on blood pH (p¡0.01) but not for cigarette smoking (p=0.589). Additionally, the ANOVA analysis showed a significant correlation between the type of chewable tobacco and the duration of exposure with changes in blood pH. Our findings showed that smokeless tobacco and bidi smoking increased blood pH (7.2 and 7.4, respectively), making the blood more alkaline, while filtered cigarettes decreased blood pH. We also observed that manipulating the pH is the primary method for determining the speed of nicotine absorption in cigarette products. In conclusion, our study highlights the detrimental effects of tobacco products on blood pH and underscores the need for further research to better understand these effects and their potential health implications.
