Power Flow Calculation of Small Impedance Branches System Based on Improved Rectangular Coordinate Newton Method

In order to solve the convergence problem of power flow calculation in power grid, an improved rectangular coordinate Newton method is proposed. This method improves the convergence of the power flow by modifying the Jacobian matrix elements of the rectangular coordinate Newton method. Based on the improved Newton method, a method combining the two is proposed to solve the power flow. The network with small impedance branches is took as an example, the simulation results show that the rectangular coordinate Newton method can’t make the ill-conditioned network converge, and the improved algorithm can make the ill-conditioned network converge. The combination of right-angle Newton method and its improved algorithm can also make the ill-conditioned network converge, and have better convergence than the improved algorithm.
