Implementation of PV-Solar Powered Bubble Barrier System for Solid Waste Segregation in Canals

Addressing the issues of proper plastic disposal is the main reason for the researchers to pursue this study. In line with this, the study’s main objective is to design a solar powered bubble barrier system for solid waste segregation in canals. To evaluate the system’s functionality, it is decided to test the system in a controlled environment, where 5 types of solid waste materials will be deployed each having classified in three size classifications (small, medium, large) solid waste materials each having ten items having a total of 50 per trial, having three trials for each of the size classification. After testing and tabulating the results, the average number of segregated waste materials is as follows; 38.33 out of 50 for small, 39.33 out of 50 for medium and 41 out of 50 for large, with the system having total efficiency of 82%. Looking at the results for testing the functionality of the designed system, it is concluded that the designed system effective in solid waste segregation.
