Design Of A 3d-Printed Body-Driven Transradial Prosthesis With Multiple Grasping Patterns

A prosthetic can significantly improve the quality of life for those that require it. However, only a few people have the privilege to own one as it comes with a large cost to purchase and maintain. Multi-functional motorized prosthetic arms can get very expensive. While cheap human-driven alternatives exist, these are limited in functionality. The researchers proceeded to design a human-driven prosthetic arm with multi-functionality. Using CAD software to design the prosthetic model components, the prototype was then 3D-printed and assembled. The developed design and the assembled prototype were able to demonstrate the intended multi-functional motions and mechanisms.
