Teaching Practice of Engineering Mechanics Based on Finite Element Method

The problem of poor teaching quality of Engineering Mechanics in vocational colleges has existed for a long time. In order to improve teaching quality, the research team proposed a coping strategy based on the finite element method. This article carried on the teaching practice starting from a typical problem raised by the students. The finite element model was established and computed on the computer. The colorful U3 nephogram obtained clearly showed the displacement of the column and solved the students’ doubt. Subsequently, the detailed integral calculation process was sorted out by the teachers. The result of integral calculation is 0.08050 mm, which is very close to the result of the finite element method (0.07881 mm). The two solutions were sorted into teaching materials and applied to a class of 40 students for teaching experiment. The teaching evaluation is carried out in the form of questionnaire. The results show that the finite element simulation can help the students understand relevant knowledge points of Engineering Mechanics more deeply. The students’ interest in learning is increased and the quality of teaching in the classroom is improved. This paper provides a new way to answer complex questions in Engineering Mechanics teaching, which should be paid more attention and explored by more scholars.
