A Novel Compact UWB Antenna with Triple Band-Notched Characteristics

A UWB antenna, which has a triple band-rejection characteristic, has been proposed. The antenna achieves ultra-wideband characteristics by embedding a circular radiating element in a wide rectangular slot and feeding it with a coplanar waveguide (CPW). The antenna impedance bandwidth is 2.6 - 20 GHz and uses low-cost FR4 as the dielectric substrate. By etching a curved slot on the ground plane, a wide notched annular slot, and a C-shaped slot on the circular element, the triple-notched characteristic is achieved, which can effectively filter out WiMAX, WLAN, and downlinks of X-band satellite communications signal.
