Multi-layer Substrates for Decoupling of Antenna Array with Pattern Conformal

A decoupling method of multi-layer substrates is introduced. In order to prove the feasibility and advantage of this method, a 2*2 broadband omnidirectional antenna array is adopted. The antenna array consists of four identical elements, working at Wi-Fi 6E band (5.15 - 7.125 GHz), and the distance between adjacent elements is 50 mm (about 1 λ

). After optimizing the thickness, permittivity and number of layers of the substrates, three-layer substrates are designed above the antenna array. In this way, the isolation degree between antenna array elements is greatly improved in the whole working frequency band, all of which reach more than 25 dB. In addition, compared with the decoupled surface which is composed of a substrate and some metal patches, this method has better effect on the radiation pattern conformal.
