AGC of 2-Area Restructured Power System using Polar Fuzzy Controller and Energy Storage Units

A comprehensive and accurate knowledge base is necessary for a fuzzy logic controller to function well. The complexity of a knowledge base increases with the number of rules in it, which in turn influences the computation time and memory needs. In order to solve these issues, a Polar Fuzzy logic controller is proposed to automatically control the generation of two-area restructured thermal (non-reheat) power system interconnected via AC tie-line. So that deviation in frequency and tie-line power due to load disturbance in any area can be restored quickly. To further enhance the functionality of the polar fuzzy controller, an energy storage unit is provided to each control region. When system is subjected to 3% step load perturbation (SLP) in each area. To produce different dynamic responses for the system under study, SIMULINK models and program codings are done using MATLAB software version R2021a.
