Laser micromachining of Monel-400 and the investigation on the effect of process parameters on top kerf quality characteristics

The current work presents the influence of Nd:YAG laser process parameters on top kerf width and kerf deviation of straight and curved micro channels. The experimental study utilizes Monel-400 due to its extensive application in various engineering streams. Taguchi's L16 orthogonal array design was used to conduct the experiments considering three factors each at four levels. The required kerf width, kerf deviation, and the corresponding parametric combination for a straight profiles is identified through the experimentation cycle. Contour plots were obtained through an ANDVA study on the influence of the interaction of machining parameters on the response parameters.
