An Improved System built on Artificial Intelligence for Sorting and Handling Plastic Materials

Plastics, which have taken an important place in our daily lives, are light, bendable and strong, while being affordable. Once an amazing material, plastic is now considered to be harmful to the environment and health due to its non-biodegradability. In our country, only 60–80 percent of plastic is extracted and recycled to make many plastic products. 20 - 40 percent of plastic is dumped into drains clogging indiscriminately; land filling clogs soil particles and prevents groundwater recharge from rainfall. It also affects the activities of microorganisms in the soil. Animals eat bags containing food items, causing harm to life. Also, plastic bags cause harm to human life due to the addition of toxic dyes and germs in the food products. Dioxins released during plastic recycling and burning cause infertility and cancer by breathing in the air. Therefore, the production of environmentally friendly, biodegradable plastics is now very important. Although partially biodegradable plastics are used, the development and use of fully biodegradable plastics is still in the early stages of entering the commercial world.
