Virtual Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems Tests

The article deals with the issue of testing highly automated vehicles (HAVs). Particular attention is paid to virtual testing using hardware-software complex (HSC). Siemens PreScan is used as a software implementation environment for HSC. A technique for testing vision aids based on radar sensors as part of an automatic emergency braking system (AEBS) is proposed. Special attention is paid to the influence of such effects as atmospheric attenuation of radio waves, as well as occlusion. A methodology is also proposed for conducting virtual tests of the effectiveness of LANE SUPPORT SYSTEMS (LSS). The methodology includes test scenarios implemented in various weather and road conditions in the Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) testing software package. Test scenarios for virtual simulation were developed based on the ISO 17361:2007 test type: changeover to the left lane on a straight section of road through a broken marking line. The results of virtual testing according to the proposed methodology for the effectiveness of the Lane departure warning (LDW) system of the Audi A8 are presented. A monochrome video camera is used as a technical vision device for the operation of the LDW system.
