Resource allocation problem in multi-band space-division multiplexing elastic optical networks

The continuously increasing network traffic is pushing forward the development of optical network technologies and the evolution of network architectures. The combination of multi-band (MB) and space-division multiplexing (SDM) seems to be the most promising approach to deal with the capacity crunch. However, the combination is challenging because there are many non-negligible factors during the implementation of these technologies. In this work, we analyze the static resource allocation problem in multi-band space-division multiplexing elastic optical networks (MB-SDM-EONs) from the perspective of network planning. In consideration of network survivability, we formulate such a problem and evaluate the performance of our integer linear programming (ILP) models via simulation experiments.
