Planar Thin Film Resistor Based Wilkinson Power Divider Realization & Its Characterization at S-band

Wilkinson Power Dividers (WPD) are fabricated with thin film resistor having standard and broadband topologies at S-band. Sputtered chromium layer is utilized to achieve desired resistance. Generally, WPD are implemented with discrete resistor which results in various undesired parasitics at microwave frequencies along with thermal variations which poses constraint in meeting system performance. Pad size, spacing for discrete resistor mounting also to be considered to avoid performance degradation. Further, the chip resistor at higher frequencies are not easily available and having considerable reactance. The presented article simple realization technique of using sputtered metallized layer of thin film technology along with broad banding technique. Test results and comparative analysis are tabulated at S-band along with thermal variations.
