TagAlong: An Assistive Device for Alzheimer Patients

Alzheimer's disease is a commonly observed neurological disorder that contributes to adult mental loss. The main symptom of Alzheimer's disease, which eventually renders daily living meaningless, is progressive dementia. Memory problem is a prominent sign of this disease. As time progresses, the Alzheimer's patients will need more care and typically they need additional help as a result. In this study, an assistive device for Alzheimer sufferers is developed using the Internet of Things (IoT), a well-known technology. The system model monitors the behavior of Alzheimer patients both at home and abroad, alerting loved ones and the hospital staff to the location, in case of an emergency. The device can also prompt dementia patients to remember to take their medications and food on time. This promotes the patients' independence and lessens their dependence on relatives or caretakers.
