Analysis of energy storage operation and configuration models for high ratio wind power systems

The random and intermittent nature of wind power output has an increasingly prominent impact on grid planning and operation. For example, there is a power balance problem between wind turbines, thermal units and load, in which case there is a loss of load phenomenon, i.e. the total power generation is less than the load power, and a wind abandonment phenomenon, i.e. the power generation is greater than the load power and some wind energy is wasted. Peaking and energy storage are important tools to solve the system power balance problem. This paper has discussed the situation of regulating the power of thermal power units according to the load power and wind power output power without configuring energy storage system, and develop a 96-point curve of daily power generation plan.
