Software FMEA and the Common Defect Enumeration

SUMMARY & CONCLUSIONSThe Common Defect Enumeration (CDE) is an enumerated list of the root causes of software failures that effect software intensive systems since the 1960s. The CDE provides for a standardization of the software failure modes effects analysis to ensure that the failure modes that are most likely to be overlooked in development and testing are identified early in design to ensure cost effective mitigation.
