Prospects for Decentralized Identity in the Energy Internet

Decentralized Identity (hereinafter referred to as DID) has technical features such as distributed storage, identity autonomy, and portability [1]. Currently, DID is one of the hottest WEB3.0 concepts and is generally considered the core basic technology for building a new generation of “value Internet”. Energy Internet is a product of combining information technology and renewable energy technology [2], overlooking the energy industry as a whole, fully absorbing the development results of smart grid, distributed power generation, microgrids, and other new power technologies, and providing a comprehensive solution for the effective use of renewable energy. In order to implement the development goals of multi-energy collaboration, decentralized supply and demand, and intelligent equipment of the energy Internet [3], it is necessary to solve the problem of identity authentication and access authorization of diversified subjects under cross-industry and cross-agency conditions. And for such problems, DID provides a technical framework that balances security, efficiency, and customer experience. In this paper, we will analyze the applicability of DID in the energy Internet and discuss the application ideas of DID in the scenarios of multi-energy collaboration, microgrid, and IoT for the reference of industry peers.
