Software program design to compute signals of balance coil metal detectors

In order to design a metal detector more accurately, this paper designs a computer software program with Matlab to estimate the characteristics of the voltage signal from the probe induced by the eddy in the metal impurities. At first the weak voltage signal from the probe of a metal detector is computed by analytical method. Based on it a computer software program is designed by Matlab to calculate the weak voltage signal and one after optimization. The Flow Chart of the program is given. Two examples of different material metal balls with different radius are calculated by the program. The computation results show the characteristics of the signal, and thus gives the basis to design the subsequent weak signal detection system.
