Performance Enhancement of Combined LFC and AVR System with the Integration of HVDC Line

This paper concentrated on the development of a fruit fly optimization technique (FFOT) tuned three-degree-of-freedom PID (3DOFPID) controller for the regulation of a multi-area diverse generation source (MADGS) power system. The MADGS is considered to be coupled with the automatic voltage regulator (AVR) system to perform the investigation towards more practicality. Step load disturbance (SLD) of 10% is laid on area-1 and the dynamic behaviour of MADGS under perturbing conditions is perpetuated. However, the 3DOFPID supremacy is deliberated with other control structures available in the literature. Further, the MADGS is incorporated with the HVDC line in conjunction with the existing AC line for performance amelioration.
