Impact of water coolant flow on thermal characteristics of hybrid cooling tower

The hybrid cooling tower is a heat exchanger for the cooling of circulating water, operating simultaneously in dry and wet modes. A hybrid cooling tower is developed, in which corrugated metal plates are used as an irrigation area and the circulating water flows inside the tubular radiator. The paper aims to theoretical study the thermal characteristics (heat load, heat transfer coefficients, thermal resistance) of the developed cooling tower depending on the flow rate and temperature of irrigation (coolant) water. It is determined that the amount of heat load removed from the surface of the tubes in the hybrid cooling tower is significantly influenced by the temperature characteristics of the irrigation water and the flow regimes both inside and outside the radiator. It is shown that the distribution of thermal resistance largely depends on the temperature of the irrigation water.
