Improved low complexity TPC decoding algorithm based on codeword reliability

Consiering the decoding of Turbo product code (TPC), we propose a modified Chase-Pyndiah (CP) decoding algorithm to reduce the complexity significantly. The proposed algorithm, denoted as Codeword reliability Chase-Pyndiah (CR-CP), simplifies the extrinsic information in CP algorithm by introducing the strategy of showing the codeword reliability. Furthermore, we dynamically adjust the number of the least unreliable bits and count the highly reliable codewords to decrease the computation complexity of extrinsic information. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm remarkably reduces the complexity compared to CP at the cost of negligible performance loss.
