A Comparative Study of Anti Theft Techniques and Android Applications based on Kotlin

In the modern world, imagining a life without smartphone is not possible. Everyone relies on their smartphones; hence smartphone theft can be a very terrifying incident for the victim. Even after theft, when people file a police complaint against theft, the chances are very slim that the phone would be recovered. Thus, there is no way but to rely on anti-theft measures rather than hoping to recover phone. To prevent the theft, there are various apps available in the market with features like location tracking, remote wiping, etc. Although the major drawback of these technologies is that once the phone is switched off, all the above described features are unavailable to the user. The main objective of this paper is to elaborate upon various anti-theft measures that are currently being applied, limited not only to smart phone theft, but also can be applied on generalized domains.
