Study and Outline of Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) System

This paper provides a wide understanding about Vertical Take-Off and Landing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (VTOL-UAVs). We here discuss brief about different types of UAVs that we classify into and their properties and specifications. This paper analyses about how the VTOL type flights differ from conventional and from helicopters that we know of. Generally a Passive Variable-Pitch Propeller (PVPP) is incorporated in the VTOL UAVs to adaptively adjust the pitch of the vehicle. But we here see about a new design of the propeller which improves the maneuverability and can supply better propulsion. The main process in VTOL is controlling of flight. Simple remote control is enough to control the flight but only for a distance up to which we are able to see. But here we discuss a better solution to control the flight to far distances using a vision unit and an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). It is simple to control and we will be able to reach places where even Global Positioning System (GPS) cannot reach.
