A Study on Various Types of Lamps used in Domestic Sector and their Impact on Energy Efficiency

According to estimates, nearly 20% of the world's total power production and 6% of CO2 emission worldwide goes toward lighting. Our health, comfort, safety, and productivity are all impacted by the type and amount of light, as well as the economy. Lighting consumes a significant portion of the electricity budget in many countries. Nations have been making a steady conversion to energy-efficient lighting, which is the most affordable and dependable, form of energy-saving, to achieve efficient use of electricity. A well-known technology has been used in the lighting industry to optimize the controls and lighting equipment currently in use to reduce energy consumption while improving lighting quality. This paper presents a comparative overview of various lightings used for homes and their impact on lighting efficiency and the average energy savings and hence the savings in energy consumption charges. This study is very much helpful for choosing the appropriate lighting for home as 15% of the electricity used in the average home is used for lighting.
