Implications on the Prevalence of Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC) in the Philippines: A Cybersecurity Literature Review

Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC) is rampant in the Philippines. 80% of Filipino children have experienced such abuse according to an international study. The country is one of the primary sources of child sex abuse materials in the world. As the digital world progresses, younger generations are having more access to the internet, and most do not have much knowledge about data privacy. With this, they are making themselves more vulnerable and easy targets of exploitation by adults. OSEC can be prevented and reduced by thorough internet safety and education programs. These programs will provide or strengthen their views on security and privacy.
