Improved Control Scheme for Grid Connected Solar PV System with Fuzzy MPPT

In this paper, an improved control scheme for grid-connected solar PV systems with Fuzzy maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is presented. The conventional MPPT algorithm such as perturb and observation (P & O) has drawbacks such as low efficiency, higher settling time, and higher ripple. Moreover, grid current ripple is also a critical issue with P & O. Also, in the conventional method, solar photovoltaic (PV) voltage regulation depends upon the proportional gain value. Moreover, in the constant current region of solar PV, the voltage regulation is not regulated and becomes unstable. So, to reduce the mentioned problems a two-stage solar PV grid system is analyzed and an advance fuzzy logic controller is used for fast dynamic response and to eliminate the grid current ripple. To reduce the unstable voltage in the constant current region of solar PV, a feedback linearization-based voltage controller is used instead of the conventional PI voltage controller. Detailed analysis, mathematical expressions and simulation are carried out in MATLAB. For clarity of the proposed work, a comparative analysis is done. The analysis shows fast dynamic performance and better grid power utilization.
