A Compact Wide-Angle Scanning Vivaldi Radiator with Square Cutouts in the Metallization

The design of the Vivaldi radiator with square cutouts in the metallization is proposed in this paper. The radiation characteristics of the radiator without cutouts and with them are given. The effect of using cutouts, their location and parameters on the characteristics of the radiator is showed. The developed ultra-wideband radiator with the overlap ratio is approximate 3:1 (in the range from 300 to 900 MHz) and provides of the scanning mode in the E-plane in the sector of angles up to ±60°.
