About Origin of Standing Waves Close Behind Holey Metallic Structures

In this work the research of microwave electric field close behind multilayer metamaterial fishnet structures as well as multilayer one-dimensional arrays of apertures have been conducted. Amplitude patterns of near microwave electric field have been shown standing waves pictures close behind holey metallic surfaces at some frequencies. It is possible, that these standing waves have been occurred from the interference between different plasmon modes emerging on holey metallic surfaces of slabs as well as into dielectric gaps among them.
