Broadband Horn Antenna With Frequency-Independent Radiation Characteristics

A method of generating frequency-independent radiation patterns in the E-plane and constant-width axisymmetric radiation patterns for pyramidal horns in a frequency band with a relative overlap of at least an octave is proposed. In a dephased E-sectoral or pyramidal horn, a set of extended conductive plates is installed perpendicular to the electric field vector. The inner edges of the plates are placed with an uneven step near the horn throat, and the outer edges form a linear equidistant array in the horn aperture plane with the formation of a discrete decreasing distribution of amplitudes and a nearly quadratic phase distribution, which provides compensation for the decrease in the width of the radiation pattern with increasing frequency.
