An Ultrathin Broadband Polarization Conversion Metasurface with Large-Range Angular Stability

This paper presents the design and characteristics of a novel ultrathin broadband polarization conversion metasurface with large-range angular stability. The proposed metasurface unit cell with ultrathin substrate thickness (only 5.90% of the longest wavelength of the working frequency range) can efficiently realize a broad polarization conversion with the polarization conversion ratio (PCR) is greater than 90% from 18.76GHz to 26.90GHz. The polarization conversion metasurface exhibits excellent incident-angle insensitive characteristics ranging 0° to 60° for both x-polarized and y-polarized plane waves, which indicates a promising future in modern communication system. In addition to that, since its advantages in ultrathin and simple structure, it shows great potential in applications of metasurface especially for conformal devices, antennas and integrated equipment.
