Development of Smart Health Care Framework for Ambulances

Pakistan is considered the sixth most populated country in the world, with a population of 180.44 million people approximately. Pakistan came under the list of low-income countries with a low human development index rank of 146. Various factors are responsible for Pakistan's poor health system: the lack of pre-hospital treatment, lack of communication between doctors and patients, and unavailability of patient monitoring and diagnostic facilities in ambulances. In this work, we mainly focus on overcoming this barrier by at least providing a low-cost patient monitoring and diagnostic system for ambulances. The system comprises three parts: acquiring data, data processing, and knowledge and action. Firstly, the sensors attached to the patient’s body are to get the bio-vital signs. The sensors include ECG, temperature, and SpO2 sensors. The sensors are integrated with Arduino UNO attached to the patient’s body. The system is capable enough to decide on the run time that either patient is normal or has an abnormality in acquired vital signals based on the python-based classification of acquired data. The results of temperature sensors are displayed on LCD. The SpO2 sensor data is communicated to the mobile App so that it can easily be communicated to the hospital for necessary actions, the Physician for consultation, prescription, and emergency response purposes, and the patient's family. This work would provide a cost-effective and smart diagnostics system for the ambulances to save the valuable lives of humans.
