Zone Protection and Faults Classification using Smart Microcontroller

This paper uses an intelligent relay based on a fuzzy logic algorithm to discuss the state of three-step zone protection and faults classification. The proposed system for protecting transmission lines is distance relays and overcurrent relays. The proposed smart relay is designed with fuzzy logic and a precise controller to adopt an artificial neural network to regulate the operation, signal recognition and coordination of online relays. The obtained results for sampled measurements can be used in designing the microcontroller for 132 kV Karbala transmission networks. The simulation results show how voltage and current waveforms change before, during, and after fault clearing in various zones. The results depict that the time delay due to the logical relay is about 35ms; the proposed smart relay has a faster response than the rational relay.
