Modelling and Analysis of a PFC Based EV Battery Charger Using Cuk-SEPIC Converter

This article has presented an isolated bridgeless (BL) Cuk-single-ended primary inductor converter (SEPIC) converter for a mono-stage electric vehicles (EV) battery charger. The suggested charger's design ensures fundamental power factor correction (PFC) ac mains in discontinuous conduction mode. When employed for positive and negative cycles, the suggested architecture performs more effectively while using less components than the BL Cuk converter design. The merging of the CUK and SEPIC converter throughout each individual half cycle is to responsible for this. In comparison to the SEPIC converter utilized for both cycles, the output current is also smoothed by the inclusion of an output inductor at the Cuk converter side.
