A Case Study on Power Factor Improvement Using Capacitor Bank in a Power Generation Station

This study has been made for Lalitpur Power Generation Company Ltd. (LPGCL), which operates a thermal generating station of 1980 MW. In line with Government of India policies to promote renewable energy resources, a proposal has been made to set up 250 Generated Power needs to be made compatible to be supplied to the Grid by adhering to certain parameters provided under the Grid Code. One of the most crucial and important is power factor, This study aims at correcting the power factor by installing capacitors parallel to the load.
