A brief review on Artificial Intelligence based Drug Target Interaction Prediction

Technological breakthroughs and its accompanying computational methodologies have provided a solid foundation for research in a variety of scientific fields including drug discovery. To meet medical needs, scientists discover new medicines through a multi stage process called drug discovery. As conventional experiments are time and money consuming, advancements in computer based technology have been heavily made to expedite this process and battle time and expense issues. Ligand Protein Interaction (LPI) also known as drug- protein interaction prediction especially useful for discovering new interactions between a known drug and a target can save time and money by screening millions of compounds accelerating drug discovery. This review will go through the underline artificial intelligence based techniques and methods used for LPI prediction. A brief introduction about the various formats of data used is also stated. Some insights for future research is also discussed to help carry out further research in LPI prediction.
