Methodology to test Optimal Encryption Algorithms for IoT Applications

Internet of Things has reformed the methods how customers and businesses collaborate with the physical world. Using sensors, actuators and. Microcontrollers, IoT has enabled the automation of technology found in households and public spaces. Tracking and analysis of user data is crucial for the functioning and improvement of IoT. This nature of private information must stay confidential between users, or between the parties agreed by the user for the processing of their personal information. A breach of this sensitive information can be disastrous for the users’ privacy and the data should be encrypted using suitable encryption algorithms without causing a processing bottleneck for the IoT devices. This paper suggests the techniques to assess suitable encryption technique and metrics for comparison to assess the efficiency of the encryption algorithms based on Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) for asymmetric encryption and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) for symmetric encryption.
