A Compact Commercialization-Aimed 120 GHz Radar Module for Vital Sign Detection

millimeter-wave radar sensors applied in vital sign detection attract more and more attention. Besides 60 GHz band regime with mature supplier chain, 120 GHz band becomes also feasible with larger usable bandwidth, higher integration grade, and commercialized front-end transceiver chipsets launched in limited scale. Based on an antenna in package (AiP) solution of a 120 GHz transceiver chip, this work presents the design, implementation and verification of a correspondingly radar module towards commercialized product. mm) can precisely detect respiration and heart beat rate for health state monitoring applications in contactless way. The detected respiration and heart beat rate signals in time-domain are consistent with reference data. Via transient Fourier transformation the details of respiration phase (breath in and breath out) can be clearly reflected over arbitrary measuring time.
