Design and implementation of LFMCW radar target detection system based on Zynq

With the improvement of linear frequency modulation continuous wave (LFMCW) radar signal processing theory and the advent of Xilinx Zynq-7000 series chips, LFMCW radar has more and more flexible ways to realize. In this paper, a LFMCW radar target detection system based on Zynq platform is designed and implemented, which has high integration, low cost and small size. The system makes full use of the advantages of Zynq-7000 platform, uses the Processing System(PS) part of Zynq-7000 to flip the data of range dimension Fast Fourier Transform(FFT), and transfers the flipped data to Progarmmable Logic (PL) part through Direct Memory Access (DMA) to realize Moving Target Detection (MTD) and Order Statistic Constant False Alarm Rate(OS-CFAR). MTD is implemented by slow time dimension FFT, while the implementation of OS-CFAR needs to consider the characteristics of PL parallel execution, that is, the thinking mode of parallel sorting is used in the sorting steps of OS-CFAR, and the area is used to exchange less processing time to ensure the real-time performance of the whole system.
