A Novel Polarization Tracker for Satellite Communication Based on Septum Polarizer

In this paper, a polarization tracker is proposed. The polarization tracker consists of a septum polarizer, two attenuators and two phase shifters. The linear polarization direction of the polarization tracker is controlled by changing the phase imbalance and amplitude imbalance between the two excitation signals at the input of the septum polarizer. Theoretical analysis shows that the polarization tracker achieves high cross-polarization discrimination (XPD) better than 30dB in the bandwidth of 10.5-13GHz.
