Performance analysis of pilot relaying techniques in North Eastern Region (NER) of Indian Power Grid with Low Fault Level

Overhead Transmission lines are prone to various power system faults. Shunt faults are quite common in the high voltage systems. Timely clearance of fault is of paramount importance in the highly interconnected modern power systems. This paper evaluates the performance in terms of fault clearance time, dependability, and reliability of Distance Protection Relay (DPR) together with various Adaptive Pilot Relaying Techniques which have been implemented in 400 kV Silchar – Imphal Double Circuit lines in North Eastern Region (NER) Power System of India.
