Gravity-Controlled Polarization Reconfigurable Liquid Dielectric Resonator Antenna

A gravity-controlled polarization reconfigurable liquid dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is proposed in this work. The Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) structure with two channels is filled with a liquid medium called ethyl acetate. Liquid medium is injected into different channels by rotating the antenna, so that the left- and right-hand circular polarization (LHCP/ RHCP) of the liquid DRA can be switched. Both states of the antenna are designed at 3.3 GHz. The liquid DRA has a −10 dB impedance bandwidth of 32% and the 3-dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of two CP state is over 10%, meanwhile the peak gain is 6.2 dBi.
