Typical fault analysis and treatment for digital electric energy metering devices

With the rapid development of smart grid construction, the importance of digital measurement of electric energy is becoming increasingly prominent. Operation reliability is a key issue as there is still no national measurement technical specification for digital input electricity meter, which is different from the traditional mode of electric energy measurement. Based on the analysis of three typical faults of metering devices in smart substations of Beijing, the treatments and preventive measures of digital metering faults are reviewed. This paper discusses the typical issues of digital electric energy metering from the perspective of components, operation procedures and operation parameters, and summarizes the typical characteristics of faults and their impact on electric energy measurement to make improvement of the operation management strategies.
