Visualization Simulation of Mission Planning Schemes for Remote Sensing Satellites

In order to make a judgment on the reasonableness of the mission planning schemes for remote sensing satellites, a visualization simulation solution is designed and implemented in this paper. The solution is based on the joint simulation of Satellite Tool Kit (STK) and MATLAB, which enables a three- dimensional (3D) dynamic representation of the mission planning scheme in STK by calling various STK-specific interface functions in MATLAB. More specifically, the solution presents a real-time relationship between the satellite and the observation request in the form of a ‘connecting line’. Several application instances are used for testing. The test results show that the proposed solution not only helps to judge the engineering feasibility of the planning scheme, but also facilitates the revision and optimization of the planning algorithm.
