Millimeter-Wave Slot-Coupled SIW Metasurface Antenna with Wide Bandwidth

A substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) metasurface antenna with a wide impedance bandwidth is proposed in this paper. The proposed metasurface antenna is fed by a SIW slot and therefore achieves a wide 10-dB impedance bandwidth from 18.5 GHz to 42.9 GHz, namely a fractional bandwidth of 79%. mode. The dimension of the proposed metasurface antenna is 0.80 $\lambda 0 \times 0.72 \lambda_{0} (\times 0.24) \lambda_{0}$, where $\lambda_{0}$ is the free-space wavelength at 30 GHz. The maximum gain within the interested frequency spectrum is 7.9 dBi.
