Synthesis of Non-Equiripple All-Pole Ladder Filters Using Darlington Network Synthesis Method

This conference paper presents a synthesis method for realizing non-equiripple lowpass prototype all-pole ladder filters in order to reduce the manufacturing sensitivity. First, the sensitivity analysis using Monte Carlo method is performed in the classic all-pole ladder Chebyshev filter and coupling matrix. Then, the characteristic functions of fourth-order non-equiripple all-pole filters can be derived readily, while the fifth-order or other higher orders can be derived by using Newton iteration method. Next, the lowpass prototype element values of ladder networks can be determined using Darlington network synthesis method. A series of such element values have been tabulated in this conference paper.
