Bandwidth Improvement Double Square Loops Metamaterial at X-Band Frequencies for Intelligent Surface

This paper presents a bandwidth improvement double square ring with vertical and horizontal copper lines metamaterial reflector working at X-band application. The structure is designed using a lossy Taconic substrate with a thin copper layer. The intersection double square ring shape, which is copper metal, is design on the top surface of the Taconic substrate while at the bottom surface is a full copper ground plane. From the simulation, the wideband intersection double square ring shape metamaterial reflector proved to maintain good reflector which working more than 94% from 9.7 GHz to 10.9 GHz for both TE and TM polarization incident wave. The reflector is planned to be used in reconfigurable intelligence surface (RIS) applications.
