A Study on Data Loading Integrity Check Algorithm of Civil Aircraft

The application of civil aircraft data loading function in airliner retrofit can greatly improve the efficiency of software upgrade and reduce the cost of equipment return. However, the distribution of field loadable software involves a series of processes from the generation of equipment suppliers to the final installation. In order to ensure the successful loading of software on the aircraft, the integrity of the software needs to be verified with necessary check methodology. The implementation of a SHA-1 for the manual verification of the software data digest fits this application scenario well, and maintenance crew can quickly and reliably achieve the goal of field loadable software check. Two message digest algorithms of SHA-1 and MD5 are compared as used in the message digest generation of civil aviation loadable software, with a recommendation of SHA-1 algorithm which win a priority in some area.
