ETAP based Reliability Analysis of Power Converter System with Wind Energy Interfacing

The increasing electric power demand invites the addition of new and renewable energy sources (RES) in the power system. Renewable technologies consist of several high gain power converters to achieve the desired operation with high efficiency. Hence the number of power electronic converters in the power system is also increasing daily. The system's reliability is affected by the increased addition of power electronic converters. So, the power converters' role in determining the system's reliability is inevitable. The conventional reliability evaluation methods consider the failures caused by power converters as constant. In this paper a reliability prediction using the machine learning regression technique is made. Two Case studies performing reliability analysis on RBTS (Roy Billinton Test System) simulated in ETAP (Electrical Transient Analyzer Program) software is performed.
